Our Story

How Glacier Ridge Began

Heath grew up hunting pheasants in western Illinois with labs, but one of his labs had a wild night and ended up with fuzzy puppies that point! That dogs name was Knut, and we have wanted one like him ever since! In 2021 we got our first wirehair and are in love with the breed. We have hunted behind flushing Labs, but there's just nothing like working with a good pointer who knows their job, and holds the birds for you.

Gus and Ruby run the farm together a lot, and we always say they believe their job is to Protect The Realm. They are constantly on patrol for trespassing critters; when they aren't waiting in the driveway for the kids to get off the bus in the afternoon. They are wonderful family dogs, and have an amazing ability to flip the switch off and settle into the house like a lazy dog. This was surprising to us, as the breed has a reputation for being high strung and energetic. This is important to us, as they are our family dogs who sometimes hunt.

Our Dogs are NAVHDA registered and we will help register your dog as well.

Field Accomplishments

Proven on Wild Birds

Our dogs have hunted grouse, pheasants, and woodcock in Illinois and Wisconsin. They have learned these birds each require very different approaches and have adapted to them.
